…I love what America stands for. For freedom and justice for all. The hope it embodies is breathtaking and makes one reach for the stars…and then, when it’s leaders are looked at as they squander this hope, this freedom, this justice for all – it’s painful and hard to watch… If lady liberty could move, I think she would hide her face…but that’s just my opinion… I believe what my country was built on, after that, I will be like a ship in troubled waters, drifting out to sea and mourning the Land I loved… May the USA live on as it was intended to be…an amazing place to live and be free…
I am in agreement with @Sisterinchrst - on this. We understand that men can only try to achieve a perfect world, and that only God will be able to bring it to be. But the principles that America stands for, what has attracted so many and made them dream of coming here, those principles of freedom under God and justice for all are worth fighting to preserve. I am also with her on the sadness of watching leaders willing to take away our freedoms in exchange for a shaky (at best) security. I continue to hope and pray for our country, the government of the people, by the people, and for the people, to be able to protect its citizens and their freedom for a long time to come. And in God’s time for His return and the establishment of the new earth with God Himself dwelling among us!
Self-criticism is one of those concepts that makes the US a great country – but by no means exceptional.
Patriots of all countries probably think their country is exceptional.
When any country does not live up to its highest standards – it should be criticized and correction demanded – e.g. torture use, guaranteed rights abridgment, etc.
I don’t like that statement, because one should not defend wrongness. There can never be improvement without honest assessment, whether of country or anything else.
