Many years ago – as a typical example, A friend and I were just coming out of a supermarket – about 3PM. There was an elderly couple being mugged right in front of the store. There were several other people just standing and staring. I ran toward the mugger, as did my friend. One look at us an he fled. The couple were quite shaken but unharmed. It never occurred to me that there might be some danger involved – the action was automatic.
Automatic reactions like this have happened several times in my life – dealing with unpleasant people. I always came out unharmed-not always true of the other person.
