  • The two parties supposedly have diametrically opposed philosophies; but because this country has continued in its departure from the constitution and freedom for all its citizens, I often wonder.

The words spoken by each candidate seem to embody the underlying platform of his party, and I choose to limit government interference in life and business to the point where we once again only hire the government leaders to protect our legitimate rights – and for nothing else.   I hope that Mr. Romney is that man because Mr. Obama certainly has ideas of a  powerful government ruling in the affairs of its citizens, which is an idea that free men hate – and fear, passionately.

My hope alone does not qualify me to predict the outcome.   I do hear much talk about “creating jobs” which is far outside the purview of legitimate government (unless the reference is to the government lifting its back-breaking hold on commerce so that businesses no longer feel threatened and want to expand and new businesses can start up, thus creating jobs).

  • I vote “None of the Above.”

  • While the election will be a close one, it is becoming clearer and clearer that Romney is falling behind – probably because he has to spend so much time preaching to the converted.
The Republican Party is fast becoming the party of the rich, the old, the bigoted, and the WASP minority. Those presently in control (including Romney) not only fail to reach out to the growing younger and more diverse electorate, they actively discourage any attempt at members who try to become more moderate and tolerant – ex-Gov. Charley Chris of FL, Richard Lugar of IN, and Olympia Snow of ME are good examples. Loss in this election may cause them to reform – but probably not.
Today’s vicious attack by Romney on Obama’s foreign policies in the wake of a tragic isolated attack on and murder of US State Dept. personnel in Libya; this by a candidate with notable lack of understanding and interest in foreign affairs, is an example of the desperation of the Romney campaign.
Obama’s slow but steady rather moderate push toward fixing the economy, despite Republican refusal to compromise or cooperate contrasts very favorably with Romney’s promise to use his “expertise”and his so far unexplained plan to somehow overcome the problems of a world economic downturn.
